Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft and Steam on notice for child safety in Australia

By Sean Maguire ( April 23, 2026, 06:18 GMT | Insight) -- Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft and Steam have been told by Australia's eSafety Commissioner to explain how they are responding to concerns that sexual predators are using their platforms to groom children and extremist groups are spreading violent propaganda. The eSafety regulator said 90 percent of Australian children play online games and online chats can be used by predators. In response to the notices, Roblox said it welcomed working with the Australian regulator while Epic Games — creator of Fortnite — highlighted safety controls it has enacted. Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite and Steam have received transparency notices from Australia’s eSafety Commissioner. They must explain how they are dealing with concerns that sexual predators are using their platforms to groom children and extremist groups are spreading violent propaganda, the regulator said....
