Japan telecom regulator mulls social media rules to protect minors

The panel, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, said relying solely on filtering by device makers is insufficient and proposed requiring social media operators to verify users’ ages in a reasonable manner and introduce default settings to protect minors.
