Dutch government opens six-week consultation on AI law

( April 20, 2026, 14:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Dutch government has opened a six-week consultation on its draft for the EU's AI Act, Willemijn Aerdts, the country's state secretary for digital economy, has said. In line with EU guidelines, the draft criminalizes manipulative AI practices or massively collecting facial images for biometric databases, and sets rules for so-called high risk AI systems. Both the department for Digital Infrastructure and the data regulator AP will be taking on key roles as monitors. The consultation closes on June 1.Announcement attached (in Dutch)....
