JFTC files criminal accusation against five Japanese diesel sellers over cartel

( April 17, 2026, 02:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan’s Fair Trade Commission said it had criminally accused five diesel sellers, including Eneos Wing, Enex Fleet and Higashi-Nihon Usami, over an alleged price cartel involving diesel sold to trucking and other fleet customers through fuel cards for accounts negotiated in Tokyo. The JFTC said the five companies’ employees, together with those of other sellers, agreed on monthly pricing targets, including passing on wholesale cost increases and setting price increase goals. The regulator filed a criminal accusation with the prosecutor general on Friday and said the conduct substantially restrained competition and harmed the public interest.The statement (in Japanese) is attached....
