Patents users see EU scrap LNG 'safe harbor' in antitrust tech-transfer rules (correct*)

The move, a clear setback for IP-intensive industries such as car manufacturing, is linked to competition concerns over the practice, a commission spokesperson told MLex.IP implementers suffered a heavy regulatory defeat on Thursday, as the European Commission scrapped an expected exemption from antitrust rules for licensing negotiation groups, or LNGs, in the final version of its new tech transfer rules, saying the practice is still new and raises competition concerns (see here)....
