New merger thresholds in France welcomed by national watchdog

( April 16, 2026, 13:17 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The French competition authority has welcomed the approval by national legislators of new thresholds for merger reviews. The Autorité de la Concurrence estimated that the number of deals notified to it would drop by as much as 30 percent, reducing the administrative burden both for itself and for businesses. Under the revision, merging parties will need French approval if their combined global revenues exceed €250 million and at least two of the companies have French turnover exceeding €100 million, unless the EU has jurisdiction over the deal. The press statement follows.
