EU data watchdogs must grant GDPR access rights in complaint cases, legal opinion says

( April 16, 2026, 09:18 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU data protection authorities must guarantee GDPR access rights when handling complaints, as they act as “controllers” when processing personal data in such procedures, Rimvydas Norkus, an adviser to the EU's highest court, said in a non-binding opinion published on Thursday. However, the right of access is limited to personal data and doesn't extend to full access to administrative case files, Norkus said.The opinion is attached (in German).
