Ivy League schools beat US antitrust claims over athletic scholarships on appeal

( April 2, 2026, 16:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Plaintiffs bringing US antitrust claims against Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University and other Ivy League schools failed to plead a relevant market, an appeals court said. The Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed an order of dismissal, finding that the alleged Ivy-only markets don't “encompass all interchangeable substitute products.” The case accused the schools of an ongoing price-fixing agreement to not provide athletic scholarships to their Division I athletes and to not pay Ivy League athletes compensation. See attached file. ...
