Google, Meta face second summons in Indonesia over child-protection compliance

( April 2, 2026, 07:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has issued a second summons to Google, the parent company of YouTube, and Meta Platforms, which oversees Facebook, Instagram and Threads, for failing to provide a proper response to an earlier summons concerning compliance with child-protection regulations in the digital sphere, known as the Tunas Regulation, which came into effect on March 28. In a statement Thursday, Alexander Sabar, director general for digital-space supervision, said the second summons was sent after both companies requested postponements for internal coordination. Sabar emphasized that this step forms part of the enforcement process under the Tunas Regulation, which allows for up to three summonses before sanctions are applied.
