South Korea releases updated data pseudonymization guidelines

( March 31, 2026, 08:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s privacy regulator released updated guidelines on data pseudonymization on Tuesday, introducing more flexible rules on data processing and use to better reflect real-world AI development practices. The revised guidelines from the Personal Information Protection Commission contain a new standardized risk-based framework that classifies data use into low, medium and high risk depending on the user and processing environment. The guidelines also streamline compliance procedures by reducing documentation requirements for low-risk cases and allow pseudonymized data to be reused for similar purposes.
