Singapore regulator consults on EV charging commitments in SP Mobility–Strides YTL deal

( March 30, 2026, 03:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore is seeking public feedback on commitments proposed by SP Mobility in its planned acquisition of Strides YTL, which operates under the brand name of ChargEco, amid concerns over reduced competition in electric vehicle charging at Housing Development Board carparks in eastern Singapore. The regulator said both parties currently compete in supplying EV charging points in the eastern region following a 2022 tender, raising potential competition issues. To address this, SP Mobility has offered commitments including capping charging prices at pre-transaction levels — subject to cost pass-throughs — and ensuring non-discriminatory discounts or rebates. The commitments would apply for three years and include notification obligations for price changes, with possible monitoring enforcement. The CCS is consulting on whether the measures sufficiently mitigate competition concerns, with submissions open until April 13.Statement follows....
