Parents should restrict social media use, screen time for under-5s, UK govt says

( March 27, 2026, 11:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The use of screens should be avoided by children under the age of two and restricted to one hour a day for children under five years old, the UK government has said. The guidance said “fast-paced, social media-style videos” should be avoided, but it fell short of suggesting parents must ensure young children don’t have social media accounts, as recommended by an expert panel advising the government. The government called on parents to follow the guidelines while it examined further measures through a consultation closing May 26. Statement follows. Report attached....
