Platforms face UK lawmakers’ calls for algorithm transparency under online safety law

The UK Parliament’s Foreign Committee said it was “dissatisfied” with actions taken by companies such as TikTok, X, Meta and Google to combat attempts of foreign interference. It called on the government to amend the act to require social media companies to safeguard users against manipulation in its conclusion of an inquiry into disinformation. Statement follows.
