EU lawmakers endorse position on AI Act changes, initiate negotiations

( March 26, 2026, 11:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: On Thursday, the European Parliament adopted a legislative package to amend the EU AI Act, known as the digital omnibus on AI, with 569 votes in favor and 45 against. The vote largely confirmed the text adopted at the committee level and marks the beginning of interinstitutional negotiations, with a first political meeting with the European Commission and the Council of the EU planned for the same day.
