EU lawmakers adopt stance on EU-US trade agreement implementation

( March 26, 2026, 11:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU lawmakers on Thursday adopted their negotiating position on two proposals implementing the tariff aspects of the EU-US trade deal, agreeing to lower most tariffs on US goods while attaching strict conditions. These include a suspension clause allowing the EU to withdraw benefits if the US breaks the deal, a sunrise clause making tariff cuts conditional on US compliance, and a sunset clause ending the arrangement by March 31, 2028, unless renewed. Negotiations with the 27 EU member states will now start.Statement follows....
