European Parliament backs EU-US trade deal, talks with member states to start

By Cynthia Kroet ( March 26, 2026, 10:44 GMT | Insight) -- The European Parliament on Thursday approved the EU-US trade agreement with a large majority, paving the way for negotiations with the member states to start. The vote comes months after the deal was provisionally struck between the EU and US in Turnberry, Scotland, in a bid to stabilize the trade relationship. Negotiations with the 27 EU countries will now start before the agreement can enter into force.  The European Parliament on Thursday approved the EU-US trade deal, with a large majority of 417 votes in favor, 154 against and 71 abstentions, paving the way for the discussions with the national governments to start. ...
