South Korea to make direct investment in AI chip developer Rebellions

The investment, part of the government’s push to foster next-generation AI chipmakers, will support the development and commercialization of Rebellions’ neural processing units, including its latest Rebel100 chip designed for hyperscale data centers, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources. The funding forms part of a broader 600 billion won financing plan for Rebellions, with a portion to be drawn directly from the national growth fund, which is designed to channel long-term capital into strategic industries such as AI, semiconductors, energy and advanced manufacturing.
