Beijer Ref-Refrigeration Specialties deal raises antitrust concerns in New Zealand

( March 25, 2026, 00:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Sweden-based Beijer Ref’s proposed acquisition of 100 percent of Refrigeration Specialties has raised antitrust concerns, New Zealand’s competition regulator said. In an announcement on Wednesday, the New Zealand Commerce Commission said it will issue a statement of issues in due course outlining concerns identified during its initial investigation into the deal. The regulator said both parties are wholesalers that specialize in supplying refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment and spare parts. Beijer Ref is wholly owned by Nasdaq-listed company, Beijer Ref AB and Refrigeration Specialties, trading as Refspecs, is owned by New Zealand wholesaler Morgan Family and Refrigeration Specialties Trustee.Announcement follows....
