EU Innovation Fund too slow to deliver for clean-tech sector, auditors say

( March 19, 2026, 16:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The slow deployment of the EU Innovation Fund is limiting its impact on clean-tech competitiveness and emissions cuts, the EU's main auditing body has said. In a statement, the EU Court of Auditors said that by June 2025, five years after the Fund's launch, actual payments to projects were only €332 million, less than 1 percent of its overall budget. The issue stems from its financing through the EU emissions trading system, which is uncertain because it depends on carbon market prices, it said.Press release follows.
