'Thematic copycat' of Epic Games antitrust suit dismissed by US judge

( March 17, 2026, 23:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A California federal judge dismissed an antitrust action against Google brought by plaintiff and Canadian resident Connor Hurley, an Android mobile app consumer who bought a number of apps and in-app content through the Google Play Store. US District Judge James Donato wrote that overall, the case "concerns Canadian consumers purchasing products in Canada," and "Hurley has not demonstrated that the antitrust laws of the United States have any application to conduct within the sovereign state of Canada." Donato also called the lawsuit "a thematic copycat" of a case brought by Epic Games, which resulted in a jury verdict against Google for anticompetitive conduct.See attached order....
