TV Hokkaido faces JFTC corrective recommendation over freelance law breach

( March 16, 2026, 07:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan’s antitrust regulator issued a corrective recommendation Monday to Television Hokkaido Broadcasting for violating the country’s freelance worker protection law. The Japan Fair Trade Commission said the Sapporo-based television station operator failed to provide written or electronic contracts specifying payment amounts, payment dates and other terms to 33 independent contractors engaged in producing audiovisual content and directing. The company also failed to pay 32 of the contractors within the legally required timeframe. The regulator instructed the broadcaster to implement compliance measures to prevent a recurrence.The statement is attached (in Japanese)....
