Japan opens consultation on new antitrust rules for fair transactions

( March 13, 2026, 02:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan’s antitrust agency has begun accepting public comments on proposed rule changes aimed at tightening regulation of exploitative practices in supply chains and the logistics sector. The Japan Fair Trade Commission said on Thursday it is seeking third-party input on four sets of rules. These include new special-designation rules related to payment terms and the transport sector, as well as amendments to guidelines on the abuse of a superior bargaining position, an unfair trade practice prohibited under the Antimonopoly Act. Public comments will be accepted until April 13. A public hearing will also be held on April 14 on the proposed logistics rules and on payment terms for manufacturing and other contracted work.The statements, in Japanese, are attached....
