Anthropic seeks emergency stay of supply chain designation from US appeals court

By Mike Swift ( March 12, 2026, 23:02 GMT | Insight) -- Even as Anthropic pursues litigation in California against the US Defense Department's designation of the company as a supply chain risk, the company asked a federal appeals court in the District of Columbia for an emergency stay blocking Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's actions. "The harms flowing from these unlawful executive actions are immediate, irreparable, and significant to Anthropic, and the government’s unlawful acts decidedly disserve the public interest," the company told the DC Circuit. Anthropic has asked a federal appeals court for an immediate stay of the Defense Department’s administrative directive that the AI company is a national security threat to supply chains, saying the action “violated bedrock due process protections.”...
