EU digital fairness law should tackle dark patterns, addictive design, groups say

( March 13, 2026, 05:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU's planned Digital Fairness Act should close legal gaps in EU consumer law and introduce binding rules against harmful online practices such as dark patterns and addictive design, a coalition of 86 campaign groups and more than 100 academics has urged the European Commission. In a joint letter, the signatories said that updating horizontal consumer law would strengthen legal certainty, protect vulnerable groups and ensure that simplification doesn't amount to deregulation.Letter attached....
