UK petrol, energy retailers to be asked by govt to pass on costs fairly

( March 13, 2026, 00:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK petrol retailers and energy suppliers will be pressed by finance minister Rachel Reeves and energy minister Ed Miliband in a meeting on Friday on what they are doing to keep prices down and what more they can do to ensure changes in costs are passed on fairly, the government said in a statement. Reeves has written to the Competition and Markets Authority requesting it stays on alert for unjustifiable price rises on petrol, diesel and heating oil, it said.
