EU's Canada trade agreement needs swift ratification, lawmakers urge

( March 11, 2026, 13:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU lawmakers on Wednesday called for a faster ratification by the member states of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement with Canada, which started to apply provisionally in 2017. The call is part of a European Parliament report which calls for deeper EU-Canada cooperation to tackle security threats and boost trade amid rising geopolitical tensions. Lawmakers adopted the report by 482 votes in favor and 108 against, with 42 abstentions.The statement follows....
