Independent venues raise concern over US DOJ, Live Nation settlement

( March 9, 2026, 16:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The National Independent Venue Association issued a statement raising concern over Live Nation and the US Department of Justice settling the agency's antitrust claims, saying the reported settlement does not appear to include specific and explicit protections for fans, artists, or independent venues and festivals. The settlement also appears to further empower ticket resale platforms through new requirements that Ticketmaster host their listings, which "would likely exacerbate the price gouging potential for predatory resellers and the platforms that serve them," NIVA said. The association also decried the reported settlement amount of $280 million, which "is the equivalent of 4 days of [Live Nation's] 2025 revenue, which means they could potentially make it back by this Friday."Statement follows below: ...
