Indonesia to seek concession suspension at WTO over palm-oil dispute with EU

( March 9, 2026, 06:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Indonesian Ministry of Trade said it will submit a request for the suspension of concessions or other obligations aimed at the European Union to the WTO’s dispute settlement body. In a statement on Saturday, the ministry said the move will be taken after the EU failed to fulfill its obligation to adjust its palm oil-related policies based on the ruling and recommendations of the WTO's Palm Oil Dispute Panel decision, issued on Jan. 10, 2025. The concession suspension was necessary and in line with Article 22.2 of the WTO on settlement disputes. Suspension of concessions is a temporary trade sanction which, under the WTO dispute settlement body, can be filed against another WTO member to enforce compliance with a dispute ruling.Full text of the statement follows (in Indonesian)....
