New Zealand's Alderson Logistics fined $247,000 for anticompetitive acquisitions

( March 9, 2026, 04:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: New Zealand’s Alderson Logistics and associated company Supa Shavings (2022) Limited were ordered to pay NZ$420,000 (US$247,000) for acquisitions that substantially lessened competition, the country’s antitrust regulator said. In a statement on Monday, the New Zealand Commerce Commission said that in May 2022 Alderson Logistics and Supa Shavings (2022) acquired the assets of ABS Carriers Limited and Supa Shavings Limited, companies that supplied wood shavings and held a combined 70–80 percent market share pre-acquisition. Supa Shavings Limited is a distinct legal entity from Supa Shavings (2022) Limited. The regulator said that in a New Zealand High Court ruling on Monday, the judge noted Alderson and Supa Shavings (2022) accepted they gained commercially from the acquisitions for around 13 months.Statement follows....
