Japan charts course to nationwide AI-robotics transformation by 2040

( March 6, 2026, 03:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan’s Digital Agency on Friday released a summary of the first Digital-Cybersecurity Working Group meeting that took place on Feb. 3, where officials from multiple ministries and civilian experts discussed the vision for 2030 and 2040 as well as the policies to realize digital transformation and an artificial intelligence-robotics revolution in Japan. The group sees AI and data utilization to be an integral part of social infrastructure across fields by 2040. Regarding cybersecurity, it foresees closer public-private coordination in threat responses as well as more “self-sufficient” domestic cybersecurity capacity. ASEAN was singled out as a potential market for Japan's know-how in digital transformation and in responding to aging societies.Statement (in Japanese) attached....
