xAI loses bid to block California training data disclosure law

( March 4, 2026, 23:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A California federal judge has denied a motion by Elon Musk's xAI for a preliminary injunction to block enforcement of a California law, Assembly Bill 2013, that requires AI developers to publish a summary of the datasets used in the development of generative AI system or service. Musk says AB 2013 is unconstitutional. "Ultimately, Plaintiff has demonstrated a distinct possibility of prevailing on the merits," wrote US District Judge Jesus Bernal in denying xAI's motion. "But it had not demonstrated a likelihood of success on the merits. The information before the Court is insufficient to come to such a conclusion at this stage. Plaintiff therefore does not satisfy this threshold inquiry for a preliminary injunction on its First Amendment claim."See attached document....
