Google wins preliminary approval of $135 million settlement of Android data litigation

( March 6, 2026, 18:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A US federal judge in San Jose, California, has granted preliminary approval for a proposed $135 million settlement of class action litigation over claims it illegally misappropriated the cellular data of Android device users, a settlement that would also require the company to notify Android users of its practices. "The proposed injunctive relief requires Google to disclose the conduct at issue to Android users and to require users to expressly consent to it when they set up new Android phones," US Magistrate Judge Virginia DeMarchi said in granting preliminary approval.See attached document....
