Google sued by Florida family alleging AI chatbot coached suicide

( March 4, 2026, 18:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google is facing a lawsuit filed by the family of a Florida man that alleges the company’s Gemini AI chatbot spent weeks manufacturing an elaborate delusional fantasy before helping him commit suicide. The family of Jonathan Gavalas, 36, claims the chatbot manufactured fake conspiracies, pushed him to stage a mass casualty event near the Miami airport, and ultimately coached him through his suicide. "This was not a malfunction," the complaint said. "Google designed Gemini to never break character, maximize engagement through emotional dependency, and treat user distress as a storytelling opportunity rather than a safety crisis." See attached file....
