Indonesia launches FTA talks with Uzbekistan, seeking access to Central Asia

( March 2, 2026, 04:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia and Uzbekistan have launched negotiations on a free trade agreement, the Indonesian trade ministry said on Monday. The talks were launched during an online ceremony marked by the signing of a joint statement by Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso and Uzbekistan Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov. Santoso described Uzbekistan as a strategic partner in Central Asia that can help enhance Indonesia’s regional and global trade connectivity. In 2025, total trade between Indonesia and Uzbekistan reached $181.4 million, growing 48.9 percent over the past five years, the ministry said.Statement follows (in Indonesian)....
