South Korea, Singapore agree to upgrade AI, trade, tech cooperation

( March 3, 2026, 01:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Leaders of South Korea and Singapore have agreed to start negotiations to upgrade their 20-year-old bilateral free trade agreement to fully reflect the “evolving trade and economic security dynamics as well as technological advances.” South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong also agreed at a summit meeting on Monday to deepen cooperation across a broad range of science and technology areas, especially in artificial intelligence and small modular reactors. The world’s two leading nations in AI innovation outside the US and China also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in AI and enabling digital technologies for public safety, as well as another memorandum to enhance cooperation in the field of intellectual property.Statement is attached....
