Meta says US states can't show COPPA violations in product liability case

( February 27, 2026, 23:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms opposed a motion for judgment from state attorneys general in a US case over social media addiction, saying the motion relies on materially disputed facts and on a critically mistaken understanding of the legal scope of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Meta argued that the attorneys general are unable to establish Meta’s “actual knowledge” as to whether certain users whose data was used to train AI models were under 13 years of age.
