UK testing finds text-based AI models offer little help for fraud, cybercrime

In response to growing reports of the use of large language models for crime, the institute sought to test the possibilities via long-form tasks that mirror how multi-step crimes happen in the real world. It tested 14 LLMs in 20,000 evaluations across romance scams, CEO impersonation and identity theft. Models provided the same level of risk as a basic internet search.
