Syrian real estate executive fined by US for violating sanctions

( February 26, 2026, 04:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control said an individual, who the department did not name, agreed to pay nearly $3.8 million for violating sanctions on Syria. Between January 2018 and December 2021, the individual provided managerial services to Syria in their role as an officer and board member for four Syrian real estate companies in support of several luxury real estate projects, OFAC said. Statement follows below.
