While experts broadly welcome the framework, they warn that unclear risk definitions, overlapping compliance requirements and unresolved enforcement authority could undermine implementation. The regulation’s credibility will depend on whether Indonesia can close what observers describe as an “execution gap” between regulatory ambition and institutional readiness.Indonesia is poised to join the global wave of artificial intelligence regulation, with a presidential regulation on AI ethics now 90 percent complete and awaiting the president’s signature.
