One-year tariff suspension proposed on EU nitrogen fertilizer imports

( February 24, 2026, 11:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU imports of nitrogen fertilizers — as well as related materials such as ammonia and urea — would be exempt from duties for one year, under a European Commission proposal designed to lower costs for EU farmers and diversify supply. The measure excludes products from Russia and Belarus. The move follows action that the EU took in December 2025, to ease the bloc’s carbon border levy rules for fertilizers.Full statement follows....
