Philippine regulator flags low uptake in mobile number-portability review

( February 24, 2026, 01:26 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Philippine Competition Commission has found that the Mobile Number Portability Act spurred more competitive behavior among mobile-service providers but delivered limited consumer switching. Early data showed subscriber gains for DITO, although momentum waned. Overall uptake remained below 0.1 percent of registered numbers, with most porting capacity unused. A 2024 survey showed 80 percent of respondents were unaware of the law. The PCC urged joint awareness campaigns, capacity adjustments and safeguards against anticompetitive conduct and data misuse.Statement follows. Study is attached....
