Ransomware attack on Japan's Tokai University impacts over 193,000 people

( February 20, 2026, 07:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Tokyo-based Tokai University said Wednesday a ransomware attack on its outside contractor, first reported on Nov. 14, has exposed personal data of 193,118 people, in its first disclosure on the scale of the incident. The university has yet to find evidence of penetration into its own servers or any illegal use of the stolen data.
