Mississippi sports equipment industry professionals indicted for bid-rigging

( February 18, 2026, 21:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Jon Christopher Burt, Gerald Steven Lavender and Jack Nelson Purvis Jr. have been indicted for allegedly orchestrating bid rigging conspiracies involving the sale of sports equipment to public schools in Mississippi, the US Department of Justice said in a press release. An indictment filed in the Northern District of Mississippi claims Burt, Lavender and Purvis conspired with school coaches to submit "fake bids" to Mississippi schools in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Act, the DOJ said.Statement follows below.
