US signs Taiwan trade deal

( February 12, 2026, 23:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer signed a trade deal with Taiwan alongside Taiwanese Vice Premier Li-chiun Cheng and Minister without Portfolio Jen-ni Yang. The agreement includes the US lowering its tariff rate on Taiwanese goods to the higher of either a most-favored nation rate or a 15 percent rate. Taiwan has agreed to reduce or eliminate tariffs on 99 percent of US goods and committed to addressing non-tariff barriers on motor vehicles, medical devices, agricultural goods and pharmaceuticals, and to increase environmental, labor and intellectual property standards.
