China expects more domestic EV makers to reach EU price undertakings, Mofcom says

( February 12, 2026, 08:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s Ministry of Commerce said it expects more Chinese companies to reach price-undertaking agreements with the EU over electric vehicles, as Brussels backs a “soft landing” to its subsidy case. Speaking at a press conference Thursday, ministry spokesperson He Yadong said China and the EU support EV makers using price commitments to resolve the probe and that the European Commission has issued guidance following bilateral talks, pledging non-discriminatory and objective assessments. Beijing will continue dialogue to foster an open and stable market environment for industry, he said. On Tuesday, the European Commission accepted a price undertaking from Volkswagen Anhui covering exports of battery electric vehicles, exempting the model concerned from countervailing duties, provided minimum import-price conditions are met.Transcript excerpt follows (in Chinese)....
