Meta faces probe in South Korea over alleged mass Instagram-account suspensions

( February 11, 2026, 03:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms faces a formal investigation by South Korea’s communications regulator over the alleged mass suspension of Instagram user accounts, following months of fact-finding into large-scale account suspensions since May 2025, the Korea Media and Communications Commission said on Wednesday. The KMCC said that Meta strengthened monitoring under its youth-protection policy aimed at blocking sexual exploitation and obscene content. In the process, however, Meta appears to have suspended a substantial number of general user accounts unrelated to youth protection without clear justification, according to the regulator. The KMCC said it identified potential legal violations and decided to launch a formal investigation.  Statement is attached (in Korean)....
