Coupang collective mediation cases opened in South Korea, suspended until PIPC decision

( February 10, 2026, 08:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Coupang is facing two newly opened collective dispute-mediation procedures over its personal-data breach after South Korea’s Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee voted at a Monday plenary meeting to open the cases. The committee, however, decided to suspend the mediation process until the Personal Information Protection Commission completes its investigation and deliberations into the breach. It said the public notice to launch the collective process and the recruitment of additional participants will proceed immediately after the investigation outcome is issued, but applications can still be submitted during the suspension. The two collective filings were brought by groups of 50 and 1,626 applicants, and a further 866 individuals have filed for mediation, according to the committee.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
