( February 9, 2026, 10:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission is seeking input on updating national climate targets and flexibilities to align the EU’s climate policy with a new 2040 emissions reduction goal, aiming to revise rules for how member states share efforts after 2030. The commission is also seeking views on a framework to allow limited use of international carbon credits to help meet the proposed 2040 target. Feedback can be provided until May 4.Documents follow.
