Vietnam releases draft list of high-risk AI systems under AI law

( February 4, 2026, 06:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology on Wednesday released a draft list of high-risk AI systems for public consultation, which is set to be signed and issued by the prime minister as a benchmark for the risk-based classification of artificial intelligence systems under the AI law. The list details five groups of criteria for AI systems to be classified as "high-risk," three for those that require conformity certification before put into use and the application thresholds for each. The proposed high-risk systems include those that operate in critical fields and closely linked to public benefits such as transport, energy, water, telecommunications, healthcare, education, finance, insurance, administrative and legal affairs. Systems that require conformity certification are those used as a safety-assurance component in high-risk products and goods, as stipulated by the authority.
