PayPal bid to dismiss amended US antitrust case should be denied, plaintiffs say

( January 30, 2026, 23:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A US judge should deny PayPal's motion to dismiss an antitrust class action, a group of private plaintiffs suing the company said in their opposition brief. The plaintiffs argue that PayPal's motion invites the judge "to prematurely resolve questions that are highly factual — as to market power, pricing, and other matters." The plaintiffs also said their second amended complaint (SAC) "contains additional allegations that squarely address the concerns which prompted the Court to dismiss, without prejudice," the first amended complaint. "With respect to market power, the SAC demonstrates PayPal’s dominance vis-à-vis other payment platforms, including with industry reports confirming that PayPal 'continue[s] to dominate the market for online payment processing' and appears on 'twice the number of domains as its nearest competitor (Stripe),'" the plaintiffs wrote. See court filing. ...
